Happiness. The word sounds so joyful and simple, yet why do we so often take it for granted?

Apologies in advance team, but I’m about to have a little bit of a boast (we’re all allowed to every now and then, right?) because I am a huge believer in celebrating the things that are going well in your life, and not feeling ashamed to be grateful for them!

Being happy is a plain and simple thing that can often be made a lot more complicated than it needs to be. I think that 50% of the time being happy is a choice and if you can get that far, even when the world around you is feeling like its spinning out of control, you’re consistently half way there which is an amazing state to permanently be in.

Allowing yourself to wander through life as ‘happy as Larry’ in this big bad world is something that people take for granted (including myself, at the best of times), and living in a country that drowns its people in Tall Poppy Syndrome doesn’t make it any easier. There have been countless moments in my life where I have been scared to talk about my successes, to boast about how amazing my boyfriend and best friends are, to simply just tell people in the most raw and honest form, that I actually am really well, thank you!

August has been beyond good to me and I must say, I am currently in a place right now where I have never been so happy in my entire life. I have woven myself further and further into this whole blogging thang, I’ve got six weeks left of uni forever (thank goodness!), I’m in the happiest relationship in the world with my dream man (cheesy I know, but I am literally the luckiest girl in the world), I’ve really found out who my true best friends for life are and everyone in my family is happy, healthy and loving life. I have so many exciting projects and trips to look forward to and my twenties are essentially a blank canvas that is ready for me to paint upon in colours that excite me more than ever before. I am SO excited!

I count my blessings every single day because all though it’s just such an annoying cliche (I knoooow), you really don’t know what is around the corner. You have got to be appreciative for all of the amazing things that come your way, whether you have worked your ass off for them or not, and consistently hoping for more goodness, positivity and wonderful things to continue flowing freely into your beautiful life.

I’m not perfect, and I can’t even count how many times I have let myself fall into a never ending black hole of negativity where bad things just continue to throw themselves at me, but I have recently opened up to a new revelation, especially in the past year and a bit. It’s the power of positive thinking, or ‘The Secret’ if you know what I’m talking about ;). You hear about it all the time, and that’s because it actually works.

Stop thinking about the things that you don’t want in your life, and forever stay focused on what you do want. Show the universe what you’re craving, and it will listen. I promise.

I want you all to think about all of the things that you are LOVING in your life right now, whether it be personal or materialistic, as well as the things and people who you are incredibly grateful for.

Shout it from the bloody rooftop, because you deserve it.
